Brynne Velasquez
Brynne is a 1st-year Master of Social Work Student from California State University, Northridge. She was raised in the San Fernando valley with her brother, father who is Guatemalan & mother who migrated from El Salvador. Her interest in social work peaked as she was completing her Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education & minor in Psychology. After witnessing the long-lasting effects & trauma that occurs to children & families when there is a lack of support, she was inspired to make her mark by providing a lending hand to them & the communities that need it. music, food, family, friends & Legos are where her heart and free time belong to, especially cumbias & pupusas!

Diana Garcia
Diana joins us as a new Master of Social Work student intern from California State University, Northridge, where she is currently in the second year of the MSW program. Humbly Raised in the San Fernando Valley by her mother, who migrated from Panama in the 80s, Diana has a deep understanding of the challenges that families face in accessing resources and opportunities. As a first-generation college graduate, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from California State University Los Angeles, where she first developed an interest in the mental health field. Her work in this area has allowed her to engage with diverse communities and cultures, furthering her commitment to helping those in need. Diana is passionate about making a difference and is excited to be interning at RCC.

Jose Lopez
Jose Lopez (He/him/El) is a 1st-year Master of Social Work Student from California State University Northridge. Jose Lopez is a Mexican American born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. He wanted to give back to his community and decided to volunteer. He wants to empower others and help them overcome a challenge. During his free time, he loves to play videogames and enjoys building legos.

Micaela Bronstein
Micaela Bronstein (she/her/ella) is a third year PhD student in Education at UCLA, where she
studies how to best support immigrant and refugee children in and out of school. She is an experienced educator, having worked as an English teacher, early childhood teacher, middle school college access counselor, teaching assistant for undergraduate students, and more. As an immigrant from Latin America, Micaela is deeply passionate about creating safe, loving, and welcoming spaces for immigrant and refugee children to learn, grow, make sense of the world around them, and feel empowered to live as their most authentic selves. In her free time Micaela likes to rock climb and run on the beach with her dog, Canela.

Kayla Franscisco
Kayla Francisco (she/her/ella) is a 2nd-year Doctoral Student of Occupational Therapy from West Coast University. Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Kayla is looking forward to giving back to her community by providing a wellness program for the youth. Her interest in working with the community stems from her pursuit in earning her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from CSUN. She aims to empower the youth and provide another safe space for them at RCC. Her favorite occupations include attending concerts, attending food festivals, and spending time with family & friends!

Karla Vásquez Pérez
Karla Vásquez Pérez (she/her/ella) was born and raised in El Salvador, Central America. She is double majoring in Political Science and Labor Studies with minors in Central American Studies and Community Engagement and Social Change at UCLA. She is passionate about volunteering and advocating for underserved communities. Karla dedicates her time to RCC to give back to her immigrant community. Being at the center makes me feel at home where I can connect with my culture, my mother language, and with resilient people that inspire me to work harder for a better future. She hopes to serve her community and dedicate efforts to social justice and immigration rights.
